Past event:
Sunday, September 12 & 25, 2004: "Reflection & Restoration" at Mud Bay and Hamm Creek

In cooperation with local environmental organizations, Earth Ministry members participated in Restoration and Reflection Days.  The event opened with a time of meditation and reflection and moved on to removing invasive plant species, cleaning up unwanted debris, planting native vegetation, and other hands-on restoration efforts.  These days provided great opportunities to involve youth groups in hands-on care for creation.  As the pictures below illustrate, they were enjoyed by people of all ages.

In cooperation with People for Puget Sound, we have worked on sites along the Duwamish River in Seattle and Mud Bay in Olympia.  At right, volunteer Kate Nelson removes debris along the Duwamish.  You can get a glimpse of a Restoration and Reflection Day at Mud Bay by clicking here.

Tree planting has been a major focus of work organized by Friends of the Cedar River Watershed.  The Cedar River Watershed supplies about half of Seattle's drinking water. The forest of the watershed and the industrial environment along the Duwamish are vary different from each other, but both are important to spawning salmon and in need of restoration.
