Join Earth Ministry for a Summer Retreat at Holden Village

Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 2008

Join Earth Ministry staff and other members for a week of reflection and rejuvenation at Holden Village, located high in the mountains above Lake Chelan.  There will be opportunities to participate in Earth Ministry-led workshops such as our Greening Congregations program and environmental advocacy, as well as meditative hikes in the Railroad Creek Valley and surrounding mountains—all in addition to the regular Holden summer program offerings.  This is a great chance to connect with others on faith and environment in a wilderness setting!

Due to the ferry schedule, Earth Ministry programming will begin Monday afternoon, July 7th, and end Friday morning, July 11th.

Earth Ministry staff and board members will lead sessions on topics including:
*Advocacy for All Creation
*Greening Congregations
*Reducing Toxics
*A Worship Service focused on Water
*Movement Prayer

In addition, Kevin O’Brien and Brian Naasz will be teaching an "Ethics of Energy" five session mini-course during the week of the Earth Ministry retreat; Kevin and Brian are both professors at Pacific Lutheran University, and Brian is also an Earth Ministry board member.

Earth Ministry will also lead meditative hikes and other enriching programming.

Holden offers part-time programs for children and youth accompanying their families. Holden's Narnia program provides age appropriate activities for infants through age 11. The Junior Miners/Miners program offers activities for youth entering grades six through twelve. Volunteer staff lead games, hikes and a host of fun and educational activities, some of which complement our summer theme. Parents using this service are asked to volunteer one morning a week during their stay.

Updates to this information will be posted as the Earth Ministry programming is finalized.
